Ria, Gunther and I drove to Landgraaf and caught the train to Aachen; a town built around a very old area with a cathedral and beautiful cobbled streets and lots of very picturesque historical buildings. They have amazing sculptures everywhere, and lots of people selling bratworst sausages in buns. We stopped at a wonderful bakery and bought 'vla' - traditional dutch desert which comes in a variety of forms and flavours (all of them delicious). My favourite had creamy rice pudding stuff with tart cherries on top and slivered almonds around the edges :)
