Berlin zoo is absolutely huge and we had to take a whole day to look around. The flamingos are gorgeous, and they have a lake in the middle with huge pelicans, storks, herons and assorted other birds nesting in willow trees.

Their sealion enclosures aren't as good as the ones at Auckland Zoo. But their hippo enclosure is great. It's set up a bit like our sealion enclosure with a viewing window so we can see under the water and you can watch the hippos running around at the bottom of their pool with the fish. It also gives an excellent view of the frantically thrashing legs of the ducks as they paddle around (endless entertainment for the children!).
